Oława County

The land Oława is a picturesque and interesting for both tourists and investors part of the Lower Silesia region. It comprises: the town of Oława, the town and commune Jelcz- Laskowice, Oława commune and Domaniów commune. The county covers 524 ha and has a population of 71 168 (est. 30.09.2006).


The development of social and economic life of w Oława county is influenced by the following factors: proximity of capital cities of Lower Silesian and opolskie provinces, its location in the valleys of the Odra and Oława rivers, a diversity of transport connections offered by the county making it an important centre within the East – West European Transport Corridor. The area is crossed by: the main railway line no. E-30 Beriln -Wrocław – Katowice – Lwów - Kijów, A4 motorway with a junction within Domaniów commune, namely in Brzezimierz village. The county also offers river transport opportunities as its shipping transport junction lies on the route Upper Silesia – Szczecin.


The very advantageous transport location has stimulated processing industry within the county. Towns Oława and Jelcz – Laskowice offer particularly attractive conditions for the activity of this type as they enconompass subzones of the Wałbrzych Enterprise Zone; there are also grounds of the former airfield in Stanowice.


The Land of Oława is a plentiful farming area, especially in the sount part of the county where highest class grounds prevail. Fertile grounds Domaniów and Oława communes are the place where, besides small freeholders farms, commercial farming enterprises have developed capable of successful competition on the European market.


The county Oława is also an important element of the province spatial development plan as a place on the main development axis (A4 motorway, river Odra) and a part of the expanding growth pole of Wrocław. Such a location ensures quick absorption of technological innovations by the local economy and an access to logistics and business centers.


The proximity of Wrocław conurbation and the ideal transport system make the county of Oława an attractive investment site and at the same time also a perfect place for active recreation. There are many interesting monuments of architecture, vast greens grounds and recreational centers on lakes. The development of agri – tourism may prove a chance not to miss for villages in the county. Grounds located on the right-hand bank of the river Odra, i.e. Jelcz – Laskowice commune, are counted among the most interesting lands as far as their recreational and tourist qualities are concerned (trekking and cycling) in the neighbourhood of Wrocław. Forest complexes and reserves (Kanigóra, Łacha – Jelcz, Zwierzyniec, Leśna Woda, Grodziska Ryczyńskie which may soon become a local tourist attraction as there are plans the reconstruct a village from about a thousand years ago within its limits)cover up a considerable area of the land of Oława where numerous curious plant specimens can be discovered. In the region there are about 20 monuments of animate and inanimate nature.
